Mission Statement -- May, 2008   subscribe

Welcome fellow creatures of rhythm. Do you love music? I do to. But the popular music media is progressively diminishing the "music" in music, and quickly turning music news into entertainment news. Why is this important? Why do we care? Because you all, our readers and loyal subscribers, are much more intelligent than the music industry thinks. Music is a part of who we are. We wear it as fashion, we listen to it with pride. It exemplifies our personality, character and heritage. It has deep and complex meaning in our lives. We spend countless hours listening to the sounds that make us feel alive. We listen for fun, relaxation, reflection, remembrance, homage, motivation, seduction, rehabilitation, healing, emotion, inspiration and spiritual devotion. This list goes on forever.
This site, and I as your curator, Dr. Rhythm, are dedicated to these prescribed pursuits. We are about you, making you a better listener, thinker and perhaps revealing a new world of understanding through music. I understand Britney Spears' personal life can be addicting, and the woes of Amy Winehouse's legal problems are nothing but fun to read. However, this site is for those of us that want a different perspective on the intrinsically diverse world of music. So it begins.
I, Dr. Rhythm, am a certified doctor of music. Perscriber of intelligent listening, bringing balance back to the music industry. I have saved thousands of musical patients, performed the most intricate musical surgeries and healed countless minds from the disease of the distended music industry. I am a performer, historian, educator, researcher, theorist, philospher and critic of music. I strive to bring you articles, commentary and news feeds that will be sterilized from the virus of the bloated popular media.
The music "drive-through" media is making you look like Philistines. They poise music like fast-food: quick, homogenized and full of fat. But do not worry. Dr. Rhythm is here to keep you in good health, and to make a healthy consumer "sandwich" for you to enjoy. We are constantly looking for the most intelligent articles to post on our site and we hand selected RSS feed of intelligent music-related news, plus much more. Check the archives for previous articles as they come, and do neglect our sister site, Rhythm Creautre, the humorous cartoon about popular culture, http://www.rhythmcreature.com.

Most importantly, do not forget -- Always consult your doctor! --

Dr. Rhythm, in good listening.
